AAA OFFERS “TIPSY TOW” FOR THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY

NEWS from AAA South Dakota, Nov. 15 – A free tow for your car and a free ride home for you are available from AAA South Dakota if you think you’ve had a bit too much to drink at a holiday party and feel unsafe behind the wheel.

AAA South Dakota’s “Tipsy Tow” community service program runs from

6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, through midnight on Sunday, Nov. 28, in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Aberdeen and Mitchell.

The service is free to AAA members and non-members alike.

“We often hear of people taking chances and driving when they really shouldn’t simply because they don’t want to hitch a ride and leave their car behind,” said Mark Madeja, spokesman for AAA South Dakota. “This way, everyone, including the vehicle, gets home safely.”

To call for Tipsy Tow, dial (800) AAA-HELP and ask for Tipsy Tow. AAA will provide a free tow and ride, no questions asked, within a 15-mile radius of point of pickup, for the vehicle and up to two people.

There is one catch: the only place AAA will take you is home. “This is the 6th year AAA South Dakota has offered Tipsy Tow,” said Madeja. “Our hope is that the program gets a lot of use. We really feel lives have been saved by people calling Tipsy Tow. For us, it’s well worth the effort.”
