- Southeast Technical Institute, Sioux Falls
This exciting competition, held on the campus beside the Automotive Service Technology center at STI, pits six 2-person teams of high school-age automotive tech students against each other and the clock in a race to be first to fix identically-bugged new Ford vehicles. $107,000 in scholarships is up for grabs.
There’s a critical shortage of auto technicians in South Dakota. This contest is designed to encourage students to enter this field.
Environmental News Angle: Better maintained cars pollute less.
Financial News Angle: Access to good auto techs means better and more convenient repair work for us all.
Jobs News Angle: With new auto techs in such demand, even
entry-level techs make good money. A senior tech can earn $75k+.
