AAA Offering “Tipsy Tow” for Thanksgiving

NEWS from AAA South Dakota, Nov. 23 – For the first time, AAA’s popular Tipsy Tow service is being provided by AAA South Dakota over the Thanksgiving holiday – from 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25 until 10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29 – in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Mitchell, and Aberdeen.

If you feel unsafe behind the wheel after drinking at a holiday party, AAA South Dakota will come get you and your vehicle and will give both a free, safe ride home.

“We’ve expanded Tipsy Tow and now offer this life-saving service to AAA members and nonmembers alike over all of the year’s major holidays,” said Mark Madeja, spokesman for AAA South Dakota. “During holiday periods, up to 40 percent of all fatal crashes involve alcohol. AAA’s Tipsy Tow makes sure the motorist, up to one more person, and the vehicle all get home in one piece.”

AAA also urges Thanksgiving revelers to use designated drivers and encourages party hosts to provide guests non-alcoholic alternatives and plenty of food during Thanksgiving celebrations, and to close the bar as the hour becomes late.

To access AAA’s Tipsy Tow service, call 1-800-222-4357 and ask for Tipsy Tow. The service is offered at no charge, no questions asked. AAA will give you and your car a free ride home, within a 15-mile radius from the point of pick-up, day or night, during the four-day Thanksgiving holiday period.
