AAA to Offer “Tipsy Tow” over St. Patrick’s Day
NEWS from AAA South Dakota, March 12 – For the first time, AAA is offering its Tipsy Tow services over St. Patrick’s Day.
A free tow for your car and a free ride home for you are available from AAA South Dakota if you think you’ve had a bit too much to drink at a St. Patty’s Day party and feel unsafe behind the wheel.
AAA South Dakota’s Tipsy Tow community service program runs from noon on Wednesday, March 17, until 6 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010 in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Mitchell, and Aberdeen.
The service is free to AAA members and non-members alike.
“We often hear of people taking chances and driving when they really shouldn’t, simply because they don’t want to hitch a ride and leave their car behind,” said Mark Madeja, spokesman for AAA South Dakota. “This way, everyone, including the vehicle, gets home safely.”
To call for Tipsy Tow, dial (800) AAA-HELP and ask for Tipsy Tow. AAA will provide a free tow and ride, no questions asked, within a 15-mile radius from point of pickup, for the vehicle and up to two people.
There is one catch: the only place AAA will take you is home.
“AAA has offered Tipsy Tow over Christmas and New Year’s for 5 years now. This year, we’re expanding the list of holidays to include not only St. Patty’s Day, but also the Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day and Thanksgiving holiday periods,” said Madeja. “Our hope is that the program gets a lot of use. We really feel lives have been saved with Tipsy Tow and for us, it’s well worth the effort.”
